ASUNCION: Juan Carlos Osorio’s short tenure as Paraguay coach has come to an end after the Colombian resigned due to “family reasons”.

Osorio took over in September and had been due to lead La Albirroja in this year’s Copa America.

The 57-year-old Osorio had led Mexico to the second round of the 2018 World Cup in Russia with their campaign highlighted by a memorable win over holders Germany.

He said: “For my own family reasons, unfortunately I can’t continue in the job,” said Osorio. “I’d like to thank you all for your support. It brought me pride to manage, lead and train the national team.”

Paraguay are drawn against Argentina, Colombia and Qatar in June’s continental tournament.
