PARIS: Brazilian World Cup-winning icon Pele has left hospital in Paris after having been taken ill in midweek after attending a promotional event with Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.
Pele, who needed hospital treatment for a urinary tract infection, said via Twitter: “The antibiotics are working. I feel so much better. Thank you for all your love! I think I’m ready to play again.”
Ongoing concerns over Pele’s health has seen the event with Mbappe – the only other teenager to have scored in a World Cup final – being postponed last November.
Health issues kept Pele out of the limelight at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 and he was unable to light the flame at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro two years later.
