KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian football confederation hasĀ postponed its annual congress because of the spread across the region of coronavirus.

The Asian Football Confederation has also cancelled an executive committee meeting in Bahrain on March 14 which was due to review relevant issues for the congress on April 16 in Kuala Lumpur. No new dates have even been provisionally set.

More than 20 cases of the virus have been reported in both Bahrain and Malaysia where the AFC is headquartered. A significant number of cases has also been notified in Iran as well as thousands in the Chinese source.

Asian Champions League games in the East Zone have been postponed as well as later qualifying ties for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
