KEIR RADNEDGE REPORTS: Harry Kane has been formally presented with the European Sports Media (ESM) Golden Shoe as Europe’s top league goalscorer for the 2025–26 season.
The 33-year-old England captain takes home the prestigious award for the second time in his career, following another magnificent, record-breaking campaign leading the line for Bayern Munich.
Kane wrapped up his second Golden Shoe by netting 36 goals in 34 Bundesliga appearances, matching his identical award-winning tally from his debut season in Germany. Finishing comfortably ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (27 goals) and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé (25 goals), Kane’s consistency in front of goal earned him 72 points under the ESM scoring system, cementing his place as the undisputed apex predator of modern European football.
The ceremony in Munich brought together over 60 guests, club legends and figures from across global football to celebrate Kane’s achievement. Italian World Cup winner and former Bayern icon Luca Toni delivered the keynote tribute, praising the England captain for redefining the role of a modern centre-forward.
“Dear Harry, on behalf of all strikers—past, present, and those who still dream of scoring as many goals as you have—every striker is proud of how you have taken our game to a new level,” Toni said during his address. “You are the premium version of a striker.”
Kane was accompanied by his family as he accepted the trophy from Toni and representatives of the German magazine Kicker, who managed the ESM award this year alongside Bayern and the Bundesliga. The award caps off a historic season for Kane, who scored 61 total competitive goals for Bayern and helped fire the Bavarian giants to a Bundesliga and DFB Cup double.
By winning his second ESM Golden Shoe, Kane enters rarefied air. He joins former Bayern icons Gerd Müller (1970, 1972) and Robert Lewandowski (2021, 2022) as the only Bayern strikers to claim the trophy twice. Historically, only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have lifted the award more times.
Kane was quick to credit his teammates and staff under head coach Vincent Kompany, saying: “It’s been an extraordinary season; we can all be very proud. I think it’s been the best season of my career. I’m looking forward to the new campaign and will give my all to ensure we continue to be so successful together.”
