MUNICH: England captain Harry Kane has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new contract with German champions Bayern Munich, extending his stay at the club until June 2029.

The 33-year-old striker, who joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 for a reported £86m, has enjoyed an outstanding spell in Germany. His new agreement represents a significant commitment to the club, where he has established himself as one of the world’s leading forwards.

Since arriving at the Allianz Arena, Kane has scored an extraordinary 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances, helping Bayern secure two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Super Cups. He has also finished as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer in each of his three seasons at the club.

The contract announcement comes shortly after another remarkable achievement in Kane’s career, having been crowned the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner. The award recognises his outstanding performances for both club and country and further strengthens his reputation as one of football’s greatest players.

Speaking after signing the new deal, Kane expressed his happiness at remaining in Munich. He said: “I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager.”

He added that his family were happy in Germany and that he was looking forward to winning more trophies with the club.

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen welcomed the agreement, describing Kane’s extension as fantastic news for the club, its supporters and the Bundesliga. He praised the striker’s goalscoring record, influence on the team and professionalism since his arrival.

Manager Vincent Kompany will also be delighted to retain a player who has become central to Bayern’s attacking ambitions. Kane’s ability to score goals, create opportunities and lead from the front has made him an invaluable member of the squad.

The decision to remain in Germany also appears to put an end to speculation about a possible return to English football, where Kane previously enjoyed a successful career with Tottenham.
