LOS ANGELES: A clause permitting David Beckham’s release to attend the London 2012 Olympic Games – in one role or another – is included in the two-year contract which he has agreed to stay with Los Angeles Galaxy for two years more.
Beckham is expected to take up either a playing or coaching or PR told during the Games in late July and August, just when the Major League Soccer season is heading for its decisive stage.
However the effects of another move on his young family ultimately weighed strongly with Beckham after he had turned down the chance to return to Europe with Paris Saint-Germain.
The former England captain said: “I had many offers from clubs from around the world, however, I’m still passionate about playing in America and winning trophies with the Galaxy.”
