PARIS: UEFA president Michel Platini has insisted, yet again, that he has yet to decide whether to stand for the leadership of world football federation FIFA in 2015.

French news agencies rushed to ask Platini his reaction to an interview in which Blatter had described the Frenchman as “the obvious candidate” if the Swiss decided to step aside after his fourth term in office.

Platini responded that he had heard similar comments previously from Blatter but added: “I still say: I do not know what I will do. I am very happy at UEFA. I haven’t taken any decision.”

The former captain and manager of France accused the media of trying to create the impression of a duel between himself and Blatter merely because they did not agree on every issue within the game. Each man had a high personal opinion of the other.
