LONDON: England are to host Chile and Germany in Wembley friendlies next month as part of their preparations for the World Cup.

The Football Association has confirmed that Roy Hodgson’s team, who beat Poland 2-0 to qualify for next summer’s tournament in Brazil, will face the South Americans at Wembley on November 15 and the three-time World Cup winners on November 19.

Denmark are likely to visit Wembley in March for another pre-World Cup game with the United States possible in May.

The games will conclude a year in which England have played Brazil, the Republic of Ireland and Scotland in Wembley friendlies as part of the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

“I don’t think it has been any great secret that we were expecting to play Germany in the second of the two games next month,” said Club England managing diretor Adrian Bevington.

“That would conclude the 150th anniversary celebrations of the FA so it would be a great way to end the year.

“We are in talks with non-European opponents at the moment over the first game, which would be on Friday (15 November) or Saturday (16 November). That is still to be confirmed.

“We had been looking to play Uruguay in the first game, but they are now in the World Cup play-offs so we are speaking with other opponents.”

England have not played Germany, who qualified for Brazil 2014 with an unbeaten record in Group C, since losing 4-1 to them in the second round of the 2010 World Cup finals.
