NEW YORK: FIFA president Sepp Blatter is the only senior sports leader to feature in Forbes’ latest list of the world’s most powerful people.

The 77-year-old is also the only Swiss included in the 74-name list, coming in at No69, up from 77 last year in the ranking compiled by the business publisher.

Neither the new Olympic president, Thomas Bach, nor his recently-retired predecessor Jacques Rogge feature.

One of the highest-ranked women in the list is Dilma Rousseff, state President of Brazil which hosts football’s World Cup finals next year. She is the second woman listed after German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Alisher Usmanov, the Uzbek-born mining magnate who is considered Russia’s richest oligarch and the richest man in the UK, features at 63. Usmanov, a major shareholder of English Premier League leaders Arsenal, is president of the International Fencing Federation (FEI).
