AFDP to host Soccerex Asian Forum in Jordan in 2014
AMMAN: The Asian Football Development Project (AFDP) has signed a new agreement with Soccerex to hold the Soccerex Asian Forum in Jordan in May 2014.
The event will bring together the leading administrators and business figures in Asian football with their global counterparts to look at the development of football across the Asian continent.
The agreement was signed in the Jordanian capital by the chairman and founder of AFDP, HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, and Soccerex ceo Duncan Revie.
Prince Ali, who also serves as FIFA vice-president representing Asia, said: “The Soccerex Asian Forum in Jordan will definitely break new ground, not only for Jordanian football, but for the development of the sport across Asia.
“There are certainly many opportunities in Asian football that we need to tap into and invest in and the Soccerex Asian Forum provides us with an excellent opportunity to bring all stakeholders together in order for us to reach our full potential.”
Revie said: “It is an honour to be bringing Soccerex to Jordan. The country is the gateway to Asia, an immensely populous region with a huge passion for football and huge potential for business.
“HRH Prince Ali’s vision for football and the role it can play in Asia is truly inspiring and I am delighted Soccerex can play a part in that through the Soccerex Asian Forum. The fact we are holding the event in a magnificent resort overlooking the Dead Sea makes it an even more attractive proposition.“
The Forum will be a continuation of Jordan’s rising profile on the world football stage with the nation reaching the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final playoffs and recently being announced as the host of the 2016 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
The AFDP, launched in Jordan in January 2012, is a non-profit youth commission founded and chaired by Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein.
With the support of its Official Partner PepsiCo, AFDP focuses its needs-based support on promoting social development through football across Asia, with a special emphasis on grassroots and youth development, advancing women’s football and empowering women, as well as protecting and developing the game.
