LONDON: Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez, with 31 goals apiece, are level top of the latest rankings in the race for ESM Golden Shoe for Europe’s leading league marksman.

Suarez did not manage a goal in Liverpool’s season-ending 2-1 win over Newcastle while Ronaldo did not play in Real Madrid’s title-bid-ending 2-0 defeat at Celta Vigo.

Ronaldo can still claim the prize for the third time if he plays and scores in Madrid’s last league game, this coming weekend, against Espanyol.

All goals in domestic regular season league competition count for the Golden Shoe.

Players’ goals totals are multiplied by a 1-2-3 ranking of the countries according to the UEFA Ranking of last July 1. That means the goals from numbers one (Spain) to five (Portugal) are doubled, goals from places six  (France) to 22 (Croatia) are multiplied by 1.5.

Goals in league tournament playoffs will not count.
