LONDON: Tottenham Hotspur have accepted the club will be forced to move out of White Hart Lane for at least a year after complications in the Premier League club’s tortuous progress towards a new stadium.
Plans for a 58,000-capacity stadium, next to the current ground, took a major step forward in July when a compulsory purchase order of land was approved.
Now Tottenham, in a statement, has said that the landowners are challenging the decision.
The statement added: “The club has revised its construction programme in order to take the shortest possible time to construct.
“This now therefore involves the club moving away from the Lane during construction for a period of one season, to start at the beginning of a season in order to comply with Premier League rules.
“We are currently undertaking due diligence on alternative stadium options.”
