MADRID: Real Madrid took their goals total to 13 goals four days when they followed up a 5-1 Champions League win over Basel with an eight-goal thrashing of Deportivo in La Coruna in the Spanish championship.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick and Gareth Bale two in an 8-2 win.

Portugal forward Ronaldo struck either side of a fine goal from Colombian James Rodriguez to put Madrid 3-0 up half-time. Haris Medunjanin converted a penalty for Deportivo six minutes into the second half after Sergio Ramos handled before Bale scored twice.

Ronaldo then completed this hat-trick, and there was still time for Deportivo’s Jose Verdu Toche to score before Mexican loan signing Javier Hernandez scored twice late on as a substitute.

This was the first time Madrid had ever scored eight in an away match in La Liga.

Ronaldo’s hat-trick was his 24th for Madrid and 20th in La Liga, albeit his first since November 2013. It took his tally to 260 in 253 for the record 10 times European champions.

Tevez on target

In Italy Carlos Tevez scored the decisive lone winner as champions Juventus beat Milan 1-0, handing coach Massimiliano Allegri a winning return to the Stadio Meazza from which he was dismissed eight months ago.

Tevez, who scored both goals in Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League win over Malmo, played took a return pass from Paul Pogba before beating keeper Christian Abbiati midway through the second half.

Milan, who had won their first two games under new coach Filippo Inzaghi, rarely threatened Gianluigi Buffon in the Juventus goal.

Fernando Torres came on for his Milan debut in the 76th minute but his only contributions were a yellow card for a foul on Giorgio Chiellini and a half-hearted penalty appeal when he went down in the area.

Juventus have a maximum nine points from three games and have yet to concede a goal this season.
