NEW YORK/MIAMI: Some 24 United States have applied for consideration as host to the Centenary Copa America in 2016.
To mark the 100 years of the competition a joint tournament is being staged involving national teams from both the South American confederation (CONMEBOL) and its Central and North American counterpart (CONCACAF).
Bid cities registered with US Soccer include: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, Washington, Atlanta, San Diego, Denver, Philadelphie, Seattle, Kansas City, St. Louis, Phoenix, Orlando, Tampa, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Nashville, Cleveland and Jacksonville.
The USSF envisages using between eight and 13 stadia with the host cities being chosen in May. All host stadia need a minimum capacity of
50,000.
