GLASGOW: Felix Magath has bought a one per cent stake in Scottish crisis club Rangers.
The 61-year-old soccer manager purchased the shares in late 2014 and has reportedly held discussions with one of the groups interested in a takeover of the club.

It is believed that this is not Robert Sarver, the American financier and owner of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Phoenix Suns, who had a UK£20 million (US$30.3 million) bid rejected by the club’s board on 6th January.

Magath, who was sacked by London club Fulham after a poor start to the season in England’s second-tier Championship, is understood to be interested in taking up a position as technical director of Rangers. The -time Scottish champions trail leaders Hearts by 13 points at the halfway stage of the season in Scotland’s second tier.

Club legend Ally McCoist resigned as Rangers manager in December amid a dispute with the board, but Magath – a three-time winner of Germany’s Bundesliga – is thought to have no interest in replacing him.
