ZURICH: Swiss judicial authorities face an extradition complication after Julio Rocha, one of the seven football officials arrested in Zurich in May, dropped his opposition to the application.
The Swiss attorney-general has received applications not only from the United States, where Rocha has been indicted in the FIFAgate corruption case, but from his native Nicaragua.
Rocha, who has been suspended indefinitely from football, is a former development officer for the world football federation FIFA and past president of the Nicaraguan national association (FENIFUT).
The Nicaraguan authorities want Rocha to stand trial on charges of misuse of his position for personal enrichment.
Only three of the 14 people indicted internationally by the US Department of Justice have so far answered charges in a Brooklyn court.
