MADRID: Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to run up at least 30 goals in the Spanish league for six consecutive seasons when he hit the total with one in Real Madrid’s 4-0 home win over Eibar.

Ronaldo scored 40 goasl in 2010-11, 46 in 2011-12, 34 in 2012-13, 31 in 2013-14 and 48 in 2014-15. Not even old heroes Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas managed such magnificent consistency.

James Rodriguez opened the scoring from a free-kick after just four minutes as Madrid recovered from their two-goal defeat in Wolfsburg in the Champions League in midweek.

James Rodriguez scored the first while Ronaldo laid on two for Lucas Vazquez and Jese while scoring between them. Madrid thus secured their sixth consecutive league win while Eibar’s winless run stretched to eight games.

Madrid are now only four points behind champions Barcelona who lost again by 1-0 to Real Sociedad. Second-placed Atletico de Madrid are three points off the lead after winning 3-1 away to Espanyol.
