GELSENKIRCHEN: An own goal from Adam Lang and a second-half effort from Thomas Muller saw world champions Germany beat Hungary 2-0 at in the Ruhr in further preparation for the European Championship in France.

In the 39th minute Mario Gotze went to meet Jonas Hector’s low delivery from the left but the ball ricocheted off Lang and inside the near post to give Germany the lead.

Bayern Munich’s Muller doubled the lead after 62 minutes in Germany’s final friendly before their Euro 2016 Group C campaign gets under way next Sunday against Ukraine.

In other warm-ups Euro hosts France beat Scotland easily by 3-0, Northern Ireland drew 0-0 with Slovakia but Austria lost 2-0 at home to Holland. Croatia thrashed San Marino 10-0 with hat-tricks from Mario Mandzukic and Nikola Kalinic.

** Record winners Egypt ended their lengthy absence from the African Nations Cup after Mohamed Salah scored twice in a 2-0 victory in Tanzania to ensure qualification for next year’s finals. Senegal also booked their ticket for the competition in January, beating Burundi 2-0 to join Algeria, Cameroon and Morocco in Gabon.
