ZURICH: Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has undergone surgery for a further skin cancer concern.

Last December the 80-year-old, who has been banned from football for six years for ethics breaches, underwent surgery to remove a small growth on a cheek.

This time he entered the Hirslanden clinic in Zurich for removal of a lesion on his left ear.

Close associates of Blatter said he had now returned home after one night in the clinic and that his condition was “fine.”

Blatter suffered what was described as a “stress related incident” last November, shortly after having been banned initially by the FIFA ethics committee.

He was subsequently banned six years for conflict of interest and is scheduled to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport on August 25.
