LONDON: Manager Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands at the interval and midfielder Ander Herrera was sent off in the second half of Manchester United’s goalless home draw against Burnley.

Mourinho, charged by the FA in midweek for comments about another referee, was dismissed by Nigel Clattenburg for continuing to complain about the match referee’s refusal of a penalty claim.

United dominated possession throughout and should have won. Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both hit the posts while the Swede and substitute Wayne Rooney were both badly off-target once each.

Ex-United product Tim Heaton was superb in the Burnley goal.

United had more bad news with confirmation that Antonio Valencia  must undergo surgery after fracturing his right arm.

The 31-year-old has played an important role for Jose Mourinho’s side this season, making 11 appearances in all competitions.
