LAUSANNE: Thomas Bach has indicated he may be seeking a way to find a way to make both 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games host awards simultaneously.

Latest comments by the president of the International Olympic Committee have opened the door to the possibility of creating further reforms to the bidding processes.

Bach hinted that cities bidding for a Games for a second consecutive time could be handed the opportunity for a streamlined application process.

He said: “We cannot expect bidders, some of whom may be bidding for the second time, to start the whole process from scratch. We have to reduce the planning costs there.”

The withdrawal of Budapest from the 2024 bidding process has left two strong candidates in Paris and Los Angeles and speculation has become rife over the possibility of a unique double award for that year and 2028.
