TURIN: Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first two goals for Juventus, including his 400th in league football, as the Serie A champions maintained their 100pc start to the season after four games.

It’s taken the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star 320 minutes to get off the mark for his new club, who he joined for £89 million in the summer, having failed to net in his opening three matches as well as the first half against Sassuolo.

The wait finally ended with his 28th shot in Serie A this season but it was probably the easiest of the 660 goals he has ever scored for club and country throughout his glittering career.

Ronaldo stabbed home on the line shortly after the break when Sassuolo failed to deal with a corner while his second came in the 65th minute, finishing off a counter-attack with a cool low finish.

That was also the 400th league goal he’s ever scored having managed 311 for Real Madrid, 84 for Manchester United and three for Sporting Lisbon.

The five-time Ballon d’Or, 33, could have easily scored his 52nd career hat-trick but missed two easy chances in the penalty area.
Juventus won the game 2-1 after Khouma Babacar later struck in injury time for Sassuolo, while Douglas Costa will also make the headlines for the wrong reasons after being sent off and caught spitting into the mouth of Federico Di Francesco.
