LONDON: Sergio Aguero’s season could be over already after the Manchester City suffered a knee injury in the Premier League chanmpions’ 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday night.
The Argentinian was forced off just before half-time after being fouled by Burnley’s Ben Mee for the penalty from which City scored their second goal.
Manager Pep Guardiola said: “It doesn’t look good unfortunately, so we’ll see tomorrow [Wednesday] if he is in a better way. He felt something in his knee. He has struggled in the last month, some pain in his knee, so we will see.”
“I’m not a doctor, but it doesn’t look good for the rest of the season.”
Aguero has scored 16 league goals, level with Mo Salah and three behind leading marksmen Jamie Vardy.
** Burnley have issued a statement deploring the flight over Turf Moor at kickoff of a small plane tugging a banner declaring: “White lives matter Burnley.”
