FRANKFURT: German champions Bayern Munich thrashed Hoffenheim 4-1 in the Bundesliga without three regular starters – Leon Goretzka, Javi Martínez and Corentin Tolisso.

But whereas as the first two were absent after testing positive for Covid-19, the club announced that French World Cup-winner Tolisso had been disciplined for obtaining a tattoo during the week.

The problem was not the tattoo per se but the fact that Tolisso had broken Bayern’s strict bubble regulations.

Angry chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “We are very grateful that Bundesliga football matches can now take place despite the situation with coronavirus. This makes it essential that players, coaches and officials adhere to league’s health protocol rules in an exemplary manner.

“Corentin Tolisso has violated these guidelines despite our sports and medical management communicating these guidelines clearly and concisely internally.

“We will not tolerate this types of violations. Therefore, we will impose a heavy fine on Corentin Tolisso and donate the sum to charity.”
