NYON: Russian referee Sergey Lapochkin has been banned for 10 years by the control, ethics and disciplinary commission of European federation UEFA for match-fixing.
Lapochkin was originally suspended provisionally on March 25 for failing to comply with various articles of the disciplinary regulations on fraud, bribery, corruption and match integrity.
The match concerned was a Europa League qualifying tie between Ventspils of Latvia and Bordeaux with the French club winning 1-0 away from home.
UEFA will ask FIFA to extend the sanction to the referee worldwide.
In a statement, UEFA also confirmed a seven-year ban from European competition of Ventspils for similar reasons.
Former club official Adlan Shishkanov has been banned for life and current club official Nikolajs Djakins for four years.
