MUNICH: The Greenpeace activist who paraglided into the Munich stadium before Tuesday’s Euro 2020 tie between Germany and France was fortunate to escape with his life.

Bavaria’s Interior Minister, Joachim Herrmann, said: “If the police had determined that it was a terrorist attack, he would have paid for it with his life.”

The police snipers were stood down when the Greenpeace logo on the paraglider was identified.

The 38-year-old activist, protested against fossil fuels, was unhurt in the landing despite having clipped the stadium rofof.

He was held overnight then released on Wednesday after being charged with a variety of offences.
