LONDON: Manchester City have completed their long-running pursuit of Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez as he signed from Leicester City for a club-record fee of £60m.

The 27-year-old has been a long-term target for City and moves to the Premier League champions on a five-year-deal for what Leicester say is a club record fee.

City had looked poised to sign Mahrez back in January only for Leicester to stand firm, and after multiple rejected bids eventually the deal fell through.

Mahrez¬† who scored 13 goals for the Foxes last season, said: “I am so pleased to have joined City, a side playing great football under Pep Guardiola. They’re redefining the English game and I wanted to be a part of it.”
